7th Pay Commission Dearness Allowance (DA) Hike date 2023: Though nothing has been confirmed as of now, speculations are rife that the first dearness allowance (DA) hike of 2023 for over 50 lakhs Central Government Employees is likely to be announced on March 15, Wednesday. Earlier it was claimed that the Central Government may announce its decision to hike the DA rate after Holi, which was on March 8. Now if the latest reports are to be believed, an announcement on the much-awaited DA hike announcement is expected to be made after the Union Cabinet meeting today.

7th PAY COMMISSION LATEST UPDATE: WILL CENTRE RELEASE18-MONTH FROZEN DA ARREARSIn a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Pankaj Chaudhary, MoS Finance, asserted that the Centre has no plan to release the 18 months of Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears which were stopped in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision to freeze three instalments of Dearness Allowance(DA)/Dearness Relief (DR) to Central Government employees/pensioners due from 01.01.2020, 01.07.2020 and 01.01.2021 was taken in the context of COVID-19, which caused economic disruption, so as to ease pressure on Government finances. As the adverse financial impact of the pandemic in 2020 and the financing of welfare measures taken by the Government had a fiscal spillover beyond FY 2020-21, arrears of DA/DR which mostly pertain to the difficult FY of 2020-21 are not considered feasible,” Chaudhary said in the Lok Sabha.
