The people of Kashmir have been informed to prepare for another two-day wet spell as the weatherman has predicted the possibility of light rain and snowfall from February 19. The Deputy Director of the Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, has advised residents to remain alert and stay away from avalanche-prone areas.

According to Dr Mukhtar, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry tomorrow, with isolated areas experiencing light rain and snowfall on February 19.

He added that the weather would stay generally cloudy, with a possibility of light rain in the plains and light to moderate rain and snow in the middle and higher reaches on February 20th. The weather is anticipated to remain occasionally cloudy with mainly dry weather from February 21-24th.

The temperature has also increased at most stations in the Valley, with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recording a low of 2.8 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded a below sub-zero temperature at minus 0.9 degree Celsius, and Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded 0.2 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature at Kupwara, Qazigund, and Kokernag was settled at 0.6 degree Celsius, 1.8 degree Celsius, and 0.6 degree Celsius, respectively.

As the people of Kashmir brace themselves for the wet spell, the authorities have urged them to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
